Budget deal moves forward in Senate; Fischer, Johanns, Grassley opposed

WASHINGTON — A federal budget agreement easily advanced Tuesday in the Senate and appeared on track to hit the president’s desk later this week.

The vote was 67-33, meaning that more than two-thirds of senators supported moving forward on the legislation that provides a two-year outline for spending. The House approved it last week.
