Apparent tornado hits eastern Nebraska; heavy snow forecast for Panhandle
The home of Randy and Vicki Kempkes, just south of Bennet, Neb., was damaged by a tornado, taking the roof off of the kitchen and and a sunroom the night before.

Tornadoes in southeast Nebraska, heavy rains and strong winds across the eastern part of the state and a developing blizzard in western Nebraska.
The cold front moving through the region over the next few days delivered its first wallop Thursday night into Friday morning. The severe weather could continue through tonight over the eastern part of the state, then settle into a weekend of cool temps and brisk winds.
