Kay Ryschon is puzzled.
She let her herd of about 30 alpacas out in their six-acre pasture a mile and a half west of Fort Calhoun about 1 p.m. Tuesday. But when she brought the animals, native to South America, back in about 4 p.m., she couldn't find Summer, the 7-year-old female her daughter, Anne, had picked for her own as a youngster.
