ST. PAUL — A rekindled ditch fire, fueled by high winds, burned approximately 7,000 acres of grassland and pasture in Howard and Greeley counties on Wednesday.
The ditch fire that burned grass and trees was reported between St. Paul and Cushing on Monday, said Michelle Woitalewicz, Howard County emergency manager. On Wednesday, high southerly winds at 30 mph, with gusts into the 50 mph range, rekindled the fire and sent it north.
