A less-smelly South Omaha? New system is aimed at piping, treating wastewater
The city just finished upgrades to the network that sends wastewater from seven South Omaha meatpacking plants to the Missouri River Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Omaha is going back to the future to prevent the dumping of millions of gallons of greasy, bacteria-laden wastewater directly into the Missouri River.
As part of a new system dedicated to piping and treating wastewater from South Omaha meat industry factories, the city is reusing pipes from an old wastewater plant that was closed decades ago.
