Military veterans who dream of starting their own businesses can compete for start-up money in a video pitch contest.

Signal 88 Security, an Omaha-based private security company, is sponsoring Operation American Dream: From Battlefield to Boss for the second year.

Army and Air Force veterans can submit 60- to 90-second videos through May 15 describing why they deserve to win the start-up money.

The winning submission will be decided through a public vote on Signal 88 Security’s Facebook page on May 22. The contestant with the most votes will receive $5,000 to start his or her own business, or $10,000 if he or she chooses to open a Signal 88 Security franchise.

Signal 88 will sponsor a second contest in the fall for Marine and Navy veterans.

Submissions will be accepted online at www.signal88.com/OperationAmericanDream.
