The Valley business district is only three blocks long, but the little railroad town, located just past the Elkhorn area, offers something for everyone.
“You just park your car once and eat, tour, shop!” said Wendy Deane, who is adding the latest addition to the Valley's business district, the Hidden Gem Antique Boutique. The store opens March 1.
Deane and others are hoping to “bring new life to this community and its downtown district.”
The Hidden Gem, 206 N. Spruce St., will carry antiques, accessories and repurposed items.
“We're calling it a menagerie,” Deane said. The public is invited to a preview from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 28.
Deane, an artist, also owns the Gallery & Loft, which contains her studio, at 207 N. Spruce St., along with the Eclectic Gift Shop, a co-op that features many handmade gift items, including jewelry and gifts for baby, at 224 N. Spruce St.
She also co-owns the Simply Delicious Restaurant with Chef Max Acevedo. In addition to breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant serves high tea by reservation Wednesday through Friday. Acevedo was the chef with Prima 140 Restaurant in Omaha for many years, Deane said.
Deane said to also look for celebrations this summer as Valley marks its 150th anniversary this year.
