Got an event to promote? A region to which you want to lure visitors?

The Nebraska Tourism Commission is seeking applications for $160,000 it has available for state tourism marketing grants. The objective is to attract new visitors from outside a 100-mile radius.

Grants of between $2,000 and $15,000 can be used for promoting an event or a region, or for general marketing.

Tourism commission chairman Jeff Boeka said $125,000 in grants were allocated last year, although requests totaled about $500,000. This year the commission upped the amount to better meet the need, he said.
