The inaugural Hackovate Health competition comes to an end Thursday (update: rescheduled due to weather) as the 10 health care technology finalists compete for the grand prize of $15,000 and a visit with senior management of H&R Block, the event's main sponsor.
The finale, which is free and open to the public, takes place from 3-7 p.m. at the "Extreme Screen" (left) at Union Station. (Update: agenda yet to be released.) Local social media consultant and video blogger Ramsey Mohsen will serve as the event's emcee.
Hackovate Health, which was announced by Think Big Partners in November, challenges entrepreneurs to dream up an online or mobile app that could help consumers navigate today's health care landscape.
Finalists from the Kansas City area include Tami Hutchinson of eLuminate Health, Matthew Kafka of ReMARK Health and Jug Stanovcic of HealthPlan Select by Stenuus. Finalists from around the globe include John McCluskey of Seattle-based OkCopay, Inc., Liam Ryan of Dublin, Ireland-based GetHealth and Anant Vinjamorri of Boston-based Aavya Health..
