Gov. Dave Heineman and legislative leaders will meet Tuesday with small-business owners from across Nebraska at the annual Small Business Day at the Capitol.

The event, organized by the National Federation of Independent Business/Nebraska, aims to give small-business owners a bigger say in legislation.

The group says small businesses have different challenges and priorities than large businesses, and need their own advocacy voice.

The event is from 10:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Room 1023 of the capitol. Lawmakers will discuss issues including tax reform, workers’ compensation and the state budget.
