Ragazzi's Pizza is expanding into northwest Omaha.

The pizza restaurant will open in mid-September at 156th Street and West Maple Road in the space formerly occupied by Pizza Gourmet, operating owner Jeff Daley said. It currently has one location in Ralston at 5170 S. 72nd St.

"A lot of our current customers in Ralston come from the Northwest section (of town). So that's what prompted us to start looking for locations out there," Daley said.

Daley said the new restaurant will have options for dine in and carry out, and banquet capacity of about 100. It will also feature a bakery, something the current spot does not have, offering cakes, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, bars, breakfast quiches and other items.

Daley said he anticipates hiring 40 to 50 people, mostly part time, to staff the new location.

The first Ragazzi's opened about a year ago.
