Hobby Lobby at 72nd Street and Cornhusker Road in Papillion is scheduled to open on May 6, which is earlier than had been expected, developer Jay Lerner said.

Shelves and displays went up in the newly constructed store this week, and Lerner said workers are expected to begin hauling merchandise there next week.

“We weren’t certain whether we would be able to get them open this spring ... but things worked out and we have them opening early,” Lerner said.

A grand opening event will be held May 13, Hobby Lobby spokesman Vince Parker said.

The new store will replace the Hobby Lobby on 84th Street in La Vista.
