Omaha-based Scooter's Coffee will expand in the Dallas area with 40 more stores over the next several years.

ARC Holdings, which owns local Scooter's locations, has signed a franchise agreement with the coffee chain to open the stores. Site selection is underway.

ARC already owns one Scooter's location in McKinney, Texas, and has another under construction in a Dallas suburb, Addison, that is scheduled to open in March, said Jen Chaney, Scooter's national director of franchise sales.

Scooter's has 111 stores now open in seven states, with at least 60 on the way over the next several years, including a 20-store franchise agreement in Iowa announced in January. Scooter's projects at least 15 new-store openings by the end of 2014.
