Nebraska Furniture Mart will spend about $400,000 on interior renovations and construction at offices that are spread throughout its Omaha campus at 700 S. 72nd St.

Office areas will be reconfigured and upgraded. Some work is in preparation for staff who will support its third full-line store, the Nebraska Furniture Mart of Texas, which is scheduled to open in spring 2015 on the outskirts of Dallas. Other work will renew and refresh some areas.

“It's stuff we needed to do, and it's time to do it,” said Mark Hamilton, the company's marketing director.

Last June, the Mart took possession of a new corporate headquarters, a two-story, 44,000-square-foot building at 808 S. 74th Plaza. The company purchased the building, which had been vacant for three years, for $1.2 million in 2012 and then spent $7.4 million renovating the building, creating workspace for up to 200 employees.

Company officials said at the time that they expected to hire an additional 166 corporate support employees during the next 18 months.
