Comfort Dental opened its first Nebraska location today near 96th and Q Streets.

The new office at 5305 S. 96th St. will provide general and cosmetic dental services, but specialists such as orthodontists and oral surgeons will be brought in when there is demand for them, Comfort Dental Vice President of Operations Neil Norton said.

Norton said the new-to-Nebraska chain focuses on serving people who do not have dental insurance or who cannot afford to go to the dentist by offering moderately priced services. While the company is a franchise, it allows each location to operate independently and be flexible with payment. It also offers a membership plan for patients who do not have insurance and provides free dental care at all of its locations on Christmas Eve each year.

“We believe too many people can’t get to the dentist because they simply can’t afford it,” Norton said. He said the company plans to expand with more locations in Omaha, Lincoln, and western Nebraska.

Comfort Dental is based in Lakewood, Colo., just outside of Denver. It has about 110 offices in 11 states including Nebraska.
