A new antique and gift shop is opening in downtown Papillion on Friday.

Andrea Saarela will open Papillion Antiques and Emporium just in time for Papillion Days this weekend at 125 Washington St. A grand opening event will be June 27, Saarela said.

Saarela’s love of history inspired her to open the shop. The opening of the store also coincides with the Papillion Chautauqua being held June 17-23, where orators will re-enact historical events and readings in first person.

The store will sell antiques and other gift items such as handmade pottery and artwork. Saarela said she expects it to be open Wednesday through Sunday, including Wednesday nights through the summer for the Papillion farmer’s market, but will coordinate hours with downtown events.
