The Marcus Twin Creek Cinema in Bellevue will be renovated to add leather recliner seating in every auditorium, install a large-format screen to one auditorium and provide new bar and dining options.

Two other Omaha theaters and one in Lincoln have gotten or will be getting upgrades.

The made-over Bellevue theater, when work is completed in May, will have three Big Screen Bistro auditoriums with in-theater dining; a Take Five Lounge full-service bar; and a Zaffiro’s Express, which will serve pizza, sandwiches, salads, appetizers and desserts.

All of the upgrades to the 13-year-old theater with 16 screens will be provided with no change in admission prices, Marcus Theatres president Rolando Rodriguez said.

Construction will begin in the next 30 days, said Marcus’ vice president of marketing, Bob Menefee. The theater, just north of Nebraska Highway 370 and 36th Street, will remain open throughout the renovations.

Food from the Zaffiro’s Express will be allowed in any theater, Menefee said, and the hope is to also allow alcoholic beverages from the Take Five Lounge in any theater.

The Ultra Screen DLX is a giant screen — the Twin Creek screen will be three stories tall and 56 feet in width — that Marcus says is engineered to provide sharp digital images and immersive, realistic sound.

The renovations also will include new wall coverings, lighting and lobby furnishings and an exterior update. Every auditorium will be remodeled to include DreamLounger recliners, doubling the legroom from 42 inches to 84 inches.

The 55-theater chain, based in Milwaukee, did not disclose the cost of the renovation.

This spring, the chain also plans to add a Ultra Screen DLX Auditorium to the Marcus Village Pointe Cinema at 304 N. 174th St., and three Big Screen Bistros to the newly renovated Majestic Cinema of Omaha at 14304 West Maple Road, where a Take Five Lounge and Zaffiro’s Express were also added. An Ultra Screen DLX, a Take Five Lounge and a Zaffiro’s Express also will be added to the Marcus Lincoln Grand Cinema in downtown Lincoln.

The goal is to have all of the projects completed in May, Menefee said.
