Salt for Life, the low-sodium salt product developed in Nebraska by former ConAgra employees, is now available for sale in the state.

It’s at all 11 Hy-Vee supermarkets in Omaha and the Hy-Vee stores in Fremont and Papillion, the company said.

“We continue to expand our sales and distribution across the country,” said Don Mower, president and chief operating officer of Salt for Life maker Nu-Tek Food Science, which is headquartered in Minnesota and has an Omaha office.

The product is now distributed in 43 states, Mower said. It’s in several chains, including Walmart, with four more chains committed to distribution between now and March. The product is also gaining distribution for food service use in schools, hospitals and nursing homes.

Mower said Hy-Vee is a good fit for the product as it employs in-store dietitians who are available to meet with shoppers about their nutritional needs, including shopping for a low-sodium diet.
