The Brix store at Village Pointe Shopping Center has completed a 60-day renovation, which includes the addition of a 20-handle draft beer bar that features local, U.S.-based and imported draft craft beers. To celebrate the renovation, Brix invites the public to participate in an event from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

Anyone age 21 and over can try up to three free 3-ounce samples from the Brix Beer Bar.

The opening lineup includes: Brau Brothers Brewing Company Oatmeal Milk Stout, Nebraska Brewing Company Nut Brown, Lucky Bucket Brewing Company Snowsuit, Crabtree Brewing Company Berliner Weisse Ale, New Belgium Brewing Company Rampant IPA, Ace Perry Hard Cider and Fruli Strawberry Beer.

“Getting craft beer on draft at our Village Pointe location was something I’ve been thinking about for the past couple of years,” said Dan Matuszek, Brix founder and chief executive.

The renovation also includes the addition of 45 seats in the retail store for dining and enjoying wines, craft cocktails and draft beer. Other renovations include an enhanced wine and spirits accessories department and a remodeled entry and reception area in the Brix Bistro, which allows direct access to the Brix retail store. Separately at Village Pointe, Gunderson’s Jewelers, which recently opened a new 6,000-square-foot jewelry store at the outdoor shopping center, will welcome jewelry designer Charles Krypell of New York today from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Krypell, who initially trained as a sculptor, discovered that he enjoyed working in three-dimensional media that allowed him to create pieces on a smaller scale.

Among his collections are the Pastel Collection, featuring a variety of gemstones that allows mixing and matching of coordinating pieces and his Silver Collection, casual jewelry pieces at a lower price point.
