The Lids Locker Room store in north downtown is closed — for now.

In the past month, the store has switched to seasonal hours, said Lids’ John DeWaal, vice president of marketing. It will be open during the College World Series, although no dates have been set yet.

“It’ll probably be open for an extended time in the summer, wrapped around College World Series ... probably the weeks leading up to the College World Series and a couple weeks after,” he said.

For now, those are the only plans for the store to be open, DeWaal said, although the company may consider opening it for other relevant events in the area.

“We can open it up pretty quick...We can pull people from other stores if there’s an event in town that we think it’d make sense to be open for,” he said.

DeWaal said the company had hoped to make it a year-round location, but it wasn’t worth keeping it open with the traffic and volume it saw the rest of the year.

The store, which sells sports apparel, opened in June 2012, said Mike Kelley, the landlord of the building that also houses Blatt Beer & Table. He said the store has a multiyear lease and it was always a possibility it might be a seasonal store.
