IKEA, the home decor and furniture retailer, broke ground this week on its newest U.S. location, a 359,000-square-foot store, located eight miles southwest of Kansas City, Mo.

The sprawling store, which will feature three model home interiors, 50 room displays, a 450-seat restaurant and children’s play areas, is scheduled to open in fall 2014.

IKEA, which is predicting the new store will draw thousands of shoppers not only from the Kansas City area but also from Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas, expects to hire about 300 part-time and full-time workers to staff the store.
