The Gap store at Oak View Mall closed Sunday, and the mall expects to fill half the space with Brothers, one of two new stores it's announcing.

Oak View General Manager Ted Harris confirmed the Gap closing and said the store had been on a month-to-month lease. Gap officials did not respond to a request for comment.

The chain has a store at Westroads Mall featuring the Gap, GapKids and babyGap lines and a store at Village Pointe Shopping Center with the Gap, GapBody, GapMaternity, GapKids and babyGap lines.

Harris said the new stores will be:

» Brothers, which sells clothing for boys, will begin construction on a new store in a portion of Gap's old space in the upper level of the Younkers wing in January. That store is expected to open in the spring of next year.

» Shoe seller Journeys Kidz, expected to open the first weekend of December, also in the upper level of the Younker's wing next to Build-A-Bear.

» Shoe Dept. Encore, a previously announced large-format women's, men's and children's shoe retailer, will open Nov. 23.
