Five Omaha shops dedicated to reusing and repurposing items are coming together for a weekend shopping event April 25-27.

The traveling open house will be held at several thrift stores located around the Omaha area and will feature promotions and deals at each store.

Patrons will receive a card to be stamped when they visit each location. Those who visit all five will be entered into a drawing for the grand prize, a $25 gift certificate to each store, said Posh Peacock owner Pauline Uhing.

Posh Peacock, a furniture and home accent consignment shop, is one participating location that helped organize the event. Two other participating stores - Esther’s and Absolutely Her - sell high-end used clothing items. Another, The Pot & Ladle, sells kitchen consignment items. Keep the Piece takes furniture items most people would throw away and repurposes them.

“We call ourselves the ‘re- group’ -- reuse, recycle renew,” Uhing said.

Stores will hold individual drawings as well. Posh Peacock, for example, will hold drawings for separate gift certificates. Uhing said she is also giving away a few pieces of painted furniture.

Uhing said she collaborated with Angie Houloose, owner of Absolutely Her, to organize the event. There is a sense of camaraderie, she said, because all of the store owners are women, and all but Esther’s have opened in the past year and a half.

“We’re trying to support each other,” Uhing said.

All participating stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Participating stores and locations:

Posh Peacock, 12100 West Center Road

Esther’s, 805 1/2 S. 75th St.

Keep the Piece, 8266 Hascall St.

Absolutely Her, 815 Tara Plaza in Papillion

The Pot & Ladle, 8264 Hascall St.
