Fat Brain Toys store coming to Overland Park, Kan.

Fat Brain Toys, the Elkhorn, Neb.-based online toy seller and developer, will open its second retail store in Overland Park, Kan., this spring.

The new store, located at Prairiefire development, an Overland Park entertainment district, will open May 1.

"The combination of the (Museum at Prairiefire) and the community’s focus on education resonates with our overriding mission of learning through play," said Mark Carson, the company’s president and co-founder.

The online, educational toys and games retailer opened its first retail store at Village Pointe South in Omaha about six years ago.

Fat Brain Toys got its start in the basement of co-founders Mark and Karen Carson 12 years ago.

The new Overland Park store will feature an open floor and offer numerous kid-friendly interactive toy displays.

FatBrainToys.com offers 7,000 toys online, including more than 50 original toys developed by the company.
