Developers will break ground on a new hotel Friday at Midlands Place in Papillion.

U.S. Rep. Lee Terry, Papillion Mayor David Black and business owners from Sarpy County will gather to hold a 9 a.m. groundbreaking for a 98-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott at the new retail development located at Highway 370 and 84th Street.

Aaron Johnson, CEO of KAJ Hospitality said Papillion’s growth and need for lodging services were reasons the firm decided to develop there.

The hotel and six other buildings at Midlands Place have a total estimated construction cost of $29 million.

The public is invited to the ceremony.
