Snow and ice might not have been among them, but an Omaha business team went to sunny California armed with 10 reasons why the Omaha area was better for business.

They pitched their message to seven headquarters companies, 15 prospective companies and several site selection consultants.

“Several long-term growth opportunities were identified for the metro due to these meetings,” said Mark Norman of the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Development Partnership.

The partnership, the state Economic Development Department, the Omaha Public Power District and Omaha businesses sent representatives on the trip to the San Francisco Bay Area in late September.

Paula Hazlewood of the chamber said the team was armed with 10 business-related reasons to come to Omaha, including comparisons to Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Jose on power costs and business incentives.
