LINCOLN — Nebraska officials are making plans for the state’s celebration of National Ag Week March 23 to 29.

“Agriculture is our state’s largest industry,” said Gov. Dave Heineman. “Our farmers and ranchers work hard to raise the food, fuel and fiber we all use in our lives.”

State officials plan to visit Valentine, Lexington and Central City on Tuesday to discuss rural economic development and other ag-related issues. Making the visits will be Heineman; Greg Ibach, director of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture; Steve Nelson, president of Nebraska Farm Bureau; and Ronnie Green, vice chancellor of the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

In addition, the second edition of the magazine Nebraska Agriculture and You is being distributed by the Department of Agriculture. Featured in the magazine are Kyle and Gina Cantrell and family, farmers from Merna.

The magazine will be available at public places such as the offices of doctors, dentists and hair salons. Nebraska FFA chapter members are helping deliver the magazines.

Hard copies also can be obtained by calling the Department of Agriculture at 800-422-6692. The magazine is available at
