ACI Worldwide Inc., which employs about 500 people in Omaha, said it had a profit in the second quarter, after incurring a loss a year earlier.

The Florida-based seller of software for electronic banking and payment systems said net income was $1.9 million, or 5 cents a share, compared with a loss of $4.7 million, or 12 cents a share, a year earlier.

Revenue rose 37 percent to $206 million.

“Our pipeline is stronger than last quarter,” Chief Financial Officer Scott Behrens said on a conference call with investors and analysts.

ACI was formed in Omaha in 1975. The company says its software handles about $13 trillion of electronic commerce every day. ACI’s 1,750 customers, the company says, include 18 of the world’s 20 biggest banks and 250 of the largest retailers.

Shares of the company have risen about 6 percent in the past year.
