Italian Gardens, in Omaha's Little Italy neighborhood, has closed.

In an email, owner Jeff Camp said the restaurant didn't have enough diners.

"Small independent restaurants have a hard time competing with the national chains," he wrote. "We were just not able to bring in enough customers to keep operating, especially in these financially uncertain times."

Camp also ran Trovato's, which used to be in Dundee. Italian Gardens was at 1228 S. Sixth St., the former site of Cafe de Paris.
