The World-Herald asked readers to tell us about their community pride to win tickets to an early performance of “The Lion King,” which runs through April 7 at the Orpheum Theater. Francine K. McPhaull won the contest in a random drawing. Visit www.ticketomaha.com or call 402-345-0606 to purchase tickets. Here’s a sampling of the submissions.

In my community of Bennington, I am most proud of the way people look out for each other. I live alone and my neighbors are always taking care of me. One plows my drive, one works on my equipment when necessary, one works on my car, one helps with my garden and they are always calling when there is a storm to see if I am OK. I can’t imagine ever living anywhere else. I, in turn, will help run kids, watch pets and share my garden goodies, fresh and canned. I feel comfortable that I can call anyone at any time for help.
