Jazz band lifts spirits with Big Easy style

Throughout 50 years of touring, New Orleans’ Preservation Hall Jazz Band has reminded audiences that the happiest form of jazz lives on in the town from which all jazz sprang.

After three straight days of gray, wet chilliness, Omaha got a welcome antidote Friday night from the band’s musical message. An appreciative Holland Performing Arts Center crowd laughed, clapped and even sang on cue as their eight guests welcomed them to an on-stage jam session much like those featured at the band’s Big Easy home base.
