LINCOLN — Sam Burtch sat up on the turf and flipped the football over his head.
It wasn't the typical reaction for a player who'd just caught a 50-yard bomb for a score at Wednesday's practice, earning his unit some bragging rights in the spring-long battle between Nebraska's top offense and defense. A big play like that usually provokes some sort of exaggerated celebration — just a way for the guys, hardened by competition for two-plus hours, to let loose.
