Husker ace not ready for season opener
Kyle Kubat didn’t start a game for Nebraska last season until mid-April. The junior out of Omaha Creighton Prep is 10-1 with a 2.23 ERA in 16 career starts, but he has the same arm trouble that bothered him last year.

LINCOLN — Nebraska’s top starting pitcher will miss opening day for the second straight year, and it’s once again unclear when he’ll be healthy enough to return.
Junior left-hander Kyle Kubat is battling the same arm injury that sidelined him until April last season, coach Darin Erstad announced Tuesday.
