Big Ten Notes: Minnesota on verge of historic win streak
Minnesota acting head coach Tracy Claeys has helped lead the Gophers to three straight conference wins and will go for a fourth Saturday against Penn State. A victory against the Nittany Lions would be the first time since 1973 that Minnesota had won four straight Big Ten games. “It just shows the progress we are making,” Claeys said Tuesday. “We're trying to establish new standards here. I didn't realize that. That's pretty amazing. Also says the Big Ten is a tough conference.”

The last time Minnesota won four consecutive Big Ten football games, acting head coach Tracy Claeys was 4 years old. It was 1973.
The Gophers — winners currently over Northwestern, Nebraska and Indiana in succession — can get to four in a row Saturday at home against Penn State.
