Play about Gen. Crook’s life to highlight commemoration

A new play about the life of Gen. George Crook will highlight Friday’s annual Ponca Chief Stand Bear Commemoration.

The event, marking the 135th anniversary of the trial of Standing Bear, begins at the General Crook House Museum, 5730 N. 30th St. Crook spoke on behalf of the Ponca Tribe at the trial. A reception of bean soup and cornbread begins at 5:30 p.m., with Native American dance and music.
