As this year's crop of superhero films continues to march through the multiplex, I find myself wondering about “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.”

Specifically, I wonder if this series is about to be undone by the same problem that has torpedoed other comic book movie franchises: “The Curse of Too Many Villains.” It was this curse, for the most part, that brought down Sam Raimi's previous (just seven short years ago) Spidey franchise from the spectacular heights of “Spider-Man 2” to the less-than-spectacular “Spider-Man 3.”
