Providence makes Big East finals, closes in on NCAAs

NEW YORK — Providence continues to thrive on coach Ed Cooley's philosophy of getting the maximum from the minimum.
The Friars, with six players getting the bulk of the minutes in their Friday night semifinal against Seton Hall, reached the championship game of the Big East tournament with a hard-fought 80-74 victory at Madison Square Garden.
