Notes: Narrow victory was good for Jays, coach says
CU's Doug McDermott, left, and Avery Dingman embrace after the Jays hung on to beat St. John's. McDermott took advantage of single coverage most of the game by launching 26 shots. “Every game is going to be different,” he said. “The next one, I might get 10 shots and the other guys are going to get theirs.”

Creighton picked up the type of victory Tuesday night that coach Greg McDermott considers vital in a championship chase.
Doug McDermott's 3-point basket with 2.5 seconds to play lifted Creighton to a 63-60 victory over St. John's. It was just the second time in 12 games this season at the CenturyLink Center that the Bluejays won by fewer than 10 points. Creighton's previous closest call was a 95-89 win over Xavier on Jan. 12.
