A 28-year-old Lincoln man who had two children in his car was arrested Thursday in Sarpy County on suspicion of drunken driving.
Jeffrey Clark, who was driving a 2003 Kia Spectra with his 4-year-old and 11-month-old children in the car, is accused of being responsible for a three-vehicle crash that occurred at 2:05 p.m., said Lt. Brian Richards of the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office. The crash occurred on westbound Nebraska Highway 370 at the Interstate 80 interchange.
Richards said Clark failed to react to a traffic light and rear-ended another vehicle.
Clark was arrested on suspicion of third-offense driving under the influence, following too closely, driving under suspension, willful reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle with persons under the age of 16 while under the influence, the lieutenant said.
Clark had a blood-alcohol content of .21, Richards said. That’s well over Nebraska’s legal limit of .08.
The children, who were released to their mother, were not injured, Richards said. Clark suffered minor injuries and was taken to Midlands Hospital in Papillion, where he was treated and later released.
The driver of a Dodge Ram pickup truck also sustained minor injuries in the crash but was not taken to a hospital. A passenger in a third vehicle, a Chevrolet Avalanche SUV, was injured and taken to Midlands Hospital.
