LINCOLN — Junior Jessie DeZiel earned her first Big Ten gymnast of the week honor of the season on Monday.
DeZiel captured two event titles en route to winning the all-around crown at the Masters Classic on Sunday.
She exploded to a 9.975 on vault to claim the event title and secure her career-high mark in the event. DeZiel also tied for top honors on bars notching a 9.90. She went on to claim fourth on beam (9.80) and second on floor (9.85).
Also notable is DeZiel’s all-around mark of 39.525, which ranks eighth in the top all-around scores of Masters Classic history. In the national rankings, she’s in 18th place in the all-around (39.195) as well as 24th on vault (9.880).
DeZiel and the Huskers will hit the road for the third time, heading to Corvallis, Ore.,to face a pair of Pac-12 teams in No. 14 Oregon State and Arizona State in a tri-meet on Saturday at 8 p.m. CT.
