A teenage motorist was critically injured Monday morning in a single-vehicle traffic accident in the Elkhorn area.
The accident occurred during wet and possibly slick road conditions about 8:15 a.m. on Blondo Street just west of 180th Street, according to Douglas County emergency 911 dispatch reports.
The girl apparently veered off Blondo Street and struck a tree in a ditch, leaving the teen pinned in her vehicle. She had to be cut free from her vehicle.
A medical helicopter, which landed nearby at 192nd Street, took the girl to Creighton University Medical Center in critical condition.
Authorities shut Blondo Street between 180th and 195th Streets while they tended to the crash scene and freed the girl from her vehicle.
