This afternoon’s sunny weather will be repeated two more days before another wintry storm moves in.
Highs in the 50s are forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. Breezy winds will take some of the fun out of the weather.
The weather service is forecasting a 40 percent chance of a storm Wednesday night into Thursday in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area. The storm is expected to arrive as rain Wednesday night and leave as a mix of rain and snow on Thursday.
The storm’s path remains unclear, said Tom Kines, meteorologist with AccuWeather Inc., The World-Herald’s weather consultant. On Monday, the system had not yet hit the West Coast. It is expected to make landfall Tuesday and cross the Rockies on Wednesday. Its path out of the Rockies will determine how much moisture it picks up from the Gulf of Mexico, he said.
“I suspect somebody gets a significant snowfall out of this,” Kines said.
