Blowing snow is believed to have contributed to a fatal accident Tuesday on a Saunders County road.
Saunders County Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz said Arlin Kasuske, 36, of Ashland, Neb., was pronounced dead at the scene after a farm tractor collided with a pickup truck. The tractor driver, Bruce A. Rogers, 58, of Ashland, was not injured.
Stukenholtz said Kasuske was driving a Ford 350 pickup west on Ashland Road at 12:10 p.m. when the eastbound tractor attempted to turn left into a farm driveway. The tractor’s front-end loader collided with the driver’s side of the pickup.
"Snow and blowing snow, we believe, was a contributing factor for the tractor driver," Stukenholtz said. "With weather like this, we are encouraging all drivers to be extra careful."
The accident remains under investigation.
