Norfolk’s forward-looking approach to economic development continues to pay dividends.
Norfolk and Madison County will see an increase of about 200 jobs with the announcement that Tejas Tubular, a Texas-based manufacturer of oil industry infrastructure, will build a 350,000-square-foot facility in northeast Nebraska’s largest city.
This project came about through a combination of positive factors: Norfolk’s overall economic development strategy and civic amenities, state incentives (requiring a business investment of at least $109 million and creation of 50 jobs) and the presence of Norfolk’s Nucor Steel plant, which will supply the Tejas Tubular facility.
Plus, the announcement by Black Hills Energy that it will build a new natural gas pipeline to Norfolk helps address a key challenge that has long been a focus for leaders in northeast Nebraska.
The Tejas Tubular announcement provides an encouraging example of the benefits that can arise through community vision, sound policies and energetic leadership.
