Washington County authorities have identified two women who were killed Wednesday in a multi-vehicle collision near the Blair airport.
Sara N. Jorgenson, 29, and Joanne E. Roche, 74, both of Kennard, Neb., were pronounced dead at the scene, said Sheriff Mike Robinson.
Ronald V. Roche, 74, of Kennard and Helen I. Langdon, 52, of Omaha are being treated at Creighton University Medical Center.
The crash happened about 9 a.m. near the intersection of County Road 36 and Nebraska Highway 133, Robinson said.
Investigators determined that Jorgenson was southbound in a Buick on Nebraska Highway 133 when her car crossed the center line and side-swiped a northbound Toyota driven by Langdon.
Jorgenson's vehicle continued south into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a Ford Explorer driven by Ronald Roche, who was accompanied by his wife, Joanne.
Highway 133 was closed for five hours while deputies investigated the accident. Robinson said there has been no determination why Jorgenson's car crossed the center line.
He said there is road construction in the area, but it doesn't appear to have played a part in the crash.
An earlier version of this story and its headline misstated the ages of Sara Jorgenson, Joanne Roche and Ronald Roche.
