A Lincoln couple never dreamed they'd appear on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” even after their engagement announcement appeared on the NBC host's desk.
Crystal and Andrew Meister are flying Sunday to Los Angeles for a taping and two-night stay with all expenses paid.
They were known as the “Jaeger-Meister” couple in 2010 when their newpaper engagement notice made it onto Leno's show. Their combined last names are similar to Jagermeister, a popular alcoholic drink.
Each Monday during his tenure as “Tonight Show” host, Leno features notable headlines, typos and other newspaper items sent in from readers. Leno invited 10 or so couples to appear on Monday's show as part of his final week. They were told not to wear white or stripes.
Crystal said when the engagement photo first aired, they were on their honeymoon in Mexico and started hearing from friends that it was on TV.
The Jagermeister Company also heard of it and sent them numerous party favors, a flag, T-shirts and other items.
Crystal said she is excited and a little nervous for the show.
“Never in a million years did I think we'd get to meet Jay Leno on his show,” she said.
