A newly engaged couple injured during the Boston Marathon bombing are planning their dream wedding with the help of The Knot, a wedding website, and a celebrity wedding planner.
Rebekah Gregory and Pete DiMartino were standing near the finish line at the marathon as spectators when a bomb exploded. DiMartino suffered multiple broken bones in his ankle, and Gregory has undergone 15 surgeries to try to repair her leg, according to The Knot. Six months after the incident, DiMartino proposed.
“Being able to show people that you can take something so horrible and turn it into something so beautiful has been such a blessing to us,” Gregory said in a video on The Knot.
When website editors heard the story, they selected DiMartino and Gregory as The Knot's Dream Wedding couple. Marcy Blum, who planned LeBron James' wedding, will plan theirs with the help of the Internet.
Through the planning process, The Knot will ask readers to vote online on details of the wedding. First up: choosing a city to host the celebration.
