The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team will face tough competition in its second tournament of the season.
The Huskers travel to Knoxville, Tenn., to face No. 3 Alabama and No. 17 Kentucky on Saturday at 8 p.m. as part of the Ozone Collegiate Classic.
All three won their opening meets.
Alabama, which has won six NCAA titles, beat Missouri last week 197.150-193.425, the highest opening score in Crimson Tide history.
Nebraska swept all four events and the all-around competition en route to a 196.625-192.525 win against Northern Illinois last week. That helped the Huskers move up to No. 6 in the latest GymInfo rankings.
Jessie DeZiel is tied for third nationally on vault (9.95) and tied for third on bars (9.925). Senior Emily Wong is tied for second on floor with a score of 9.95. Both Huskers are ranked nationally in the all-around, with Wong seventh (39.425) and DeZiel 10th (39.325).
