The U.S. Small Business Administration announced it will host an hour-long webinar at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, the first of two parts in a free presentation including an overview of its 8(a) program, eligibility requirements and common myths about the program. The second part of the program will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22 and will cover basic requirements and pitfalls to avoid. The SBA 8(a) program is designed to give socially and economically disadvantaged small businesses a leg up when it comes to competing in the broader marketplace for government contracts, for example. In Douglas County, there are 44 companies that are either actively participating in the program or have participated in the past, including Navarro Enterprise Construction Inc.
