A 24-year-old woman who helped her mother operate a prostitution ring in Omaha has been sentenced to five years of probation.
Tabatha Ashburn pleaded guilty to conspiracy as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.
Ashburn, her mother and three others were found guilty of operating spas where prostitution took place for almost four years. Prosecutors said workers performed sex acts on customers instead of providing spa services.
Ashburn's mother, Tammy Schuck, and William Knox and Kim Bivens were sentenced to prison as a result of the case. Christopher Tierney was sentenced to probation for his role in the operation.
Schuck was the manager of the spas. Under Schuck's management, U.S. Attorney Deb Gilg said, more than 20 workers engaged in commercial sex acts.
Prosecutors have said Schuck's spa operation had many victims, including Ashburn, who was coerced into becoming a sex worker at age 18 because of a debt to her mother.
